Part 1: Keep it GCal

When initially planning this project, my intention was to try a different method for each week of July. However, a spur-of-the-moment Fourth of July trip and many family birthdays filled up the first half of the month, so I started a little later than planned.

For the first day, I envisioned creating my schedule the morning of, but that wasn’t effective, as you can see on Monday and Friday, where I had few blocks scheduled.

As someone who appreciates design, I have in the past used more color coded designs, like the one below

Although this worked well for meetings and events and providing myself with reminders of things, it was not an effective way of organizing tasks. Though I’d make blocks to estimate how long things would take, details weren’t visible. A bigger issue here was that I didn’t have space to write details, and if/when I got off track, there wasn’t any good way to fix that. My solution to this was to incorporate the Reminders functions and Keep.

I like the crossed out ones that end up on the bottom of the list, and it’s nice to have tabbed to-do’s to organize and detail lists. I also enjoy being able to add and organize information from my phone and have it directly visible on my laptop.

I think I’ll keep using calendar for events, but not for my daily to-do’s, plus next week is Todoist, so I guess I’ll see if that edges out Keep in terms of keeping track of info!
